Welcome to my home on the web. My name is Laura Jane Thompson, and I am an aspiring novelist, amateur photographer and horse business consultant. I lead an interesting professional life.

For several years I worked as a freelance writer, a profession which is synonymous with literary prostitution. Giving up that gig was an intensely liberating experience, and in doing so I opened up a world of possibilities for the next stage in my life.

While I love writing about horses and the horse business, and enjoy helping equestrian professionals get on the right path, my true passion in life is stories. My childhood was filled with stories of every genre and subject matter, and I carried that obsession into adulthood.

I love disappearing into the minds of characters and experiencing life through their eyes. I delight in both the art and function of language, and I am humbled by stories that force me to consider new perspectives or positions.

This web site will chronicle the writing of my first novel, but I think it will become more of a dumping ground than anything else. Here I can publish anything I want—no restrictions, no boundaries—and I hope to make a few friends in the process.
